Carrum Downs is a mixed bag housing-wise, and the switchboard work reflects that. Most of the suburb was still farmland until the 1980s boom, so the oldest pockets here date from that era, not the 60s/70s stock you'd find closer to the coast — some early-80s homes still have the original fuse board. The newer sections have modern boards already, but they're increasingly the ones asking about capacity: adding an EV charger circuit, a second air conditioner, or a home battery down the track.
Two Different Jobs, Same Suburb
If your place is one of the older ones, the job looks like Seaford's: fuse-to-safety-switch conversion, full stop, because the safety gap is the same regardless of suburb. If you're in a newer build, the conversation is usually about headroom — whether the existing board (even a modern one) has enough spare capacity for what you're planning to add.
What We Check Before Quoting
Either way, we look at the actual board before quoting rather than assuming based on the house's age. Some older Carrum Downs homes have already had a partial upgrade at some point; some newer ones are already close to capacity. It's a five-minute check that saves you paying for the wrong job.
