Mornington's older coastal homes are a common source of this kind of work — not because anything's broken, but because a renovation or a general update reveals how dated the original lighting and power points are for how the house is actually used now.
The Renovator's Job List
Kitchens getting more power points for benchtop appliances. Old batten-holder lights swapped for LED downlights. A deck or entertaining area — and Mornington has plenty of those — getting proper outdoor lighting instead of a single bare fitting by the back door. None of it's complicated, but it adds up to a noticeably better house once it's done.
What We Watch For
Established Mornington homes often have roof insulation added at some point after the original build, which matters for downlights — the fitting needs to be rated for contact with insulation, or have proper clearance from it. We check this before installing anything, not after.
We also cover Carrum Downs for the same category of work.
